微软桌面搜索软件Windows Desktop Search(WDS),支持多种操作系统和包括简体中文在内的多国语言。WDS 4.0可以即时搜索整台电脑,查找和查看文档、电子邮件、音乐、照片、视频等各种内容。WDS 4.0使用的引擎是一种Windows系统服务,同时支持Office Outlook 2007、OneNote 2007等程序。
WDS 4.0主要改进：

2、减少在线模式下索引电子邮件时对Microsoft Exchange的影响
3、支持对在线委托邮件箱进行索引

WDS 4.0多国语言界面包(MUI)集成了8种语言：简体中文、繁体中文、法语、德语、意大利语、日语、朝鲜语和西班牙语。
注意：WDS 4.0及其MUI可以在WDS 2.6及其MUD或更新版本上直接升级，更早的版本需首先卸载才能安装最新版。
